Dr. Subhashini Parthasarathy is one of the few performing vocalists who also holds a doctorate in Indian music. She has researched on 'Padams and Javalis'. Growing up in an atmosphere of music and culture, with her mother, Dr Nirmala Sundararajan (who also holds a doctorate in Indian Music) music was the obvious line of interest. Her passion became her profession. Subhashini was ably trained under illustrious gurus like 'Sangeeta Kala Acharya' T. Mukta and 'Sangita Kalanidh'i T. M.Thyagarajan. |

Padma Bhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. Sri.R.K.Srikantan has been singing professionally for over 75 years. Vidwan R.K. Srikantan was born on January 14, 1920, in a family of well-known musicians and is known for his undiluted classicism. His concerts are as entertaining and inspiring, as they are educative. He has served the All India Radio for several years with distinction. He has been instrumental in popularising hundreds of compositions of the great Dasa-s of the Kannada tradition. The noteworthy features of Srikantan's music are his sruthi suddha, clear cut pronunciation of the sahitya and his bhavaladen krithi renditions.Vid. http://www.sankarikrishnan.com Sankari Krishnan M.A. M.Phil (Music), a gold medalist from the University of Madras, had her initial training under Shri K.S.Subramanian of Trichy and has been getting advanced training for over a decade from Padmabhushan Lalgudi Shri G.Jayaraman. Being an 'A' GRADE artiste at All India Radio, Chennai, since 1993, Sankari has had the privilege of performing in the prestigious Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan in the year 2000 at Kolkotta. Sankari has rendered National Programmes in Doordharshan, including a program alongside Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebrations of Doordarshan, Chennai Kendra. |

Saturday June 11: Sushma Somasekharan, Vivek Rudrapatna (Violin)
Sushma Somasekharan received her initial training from Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society and is currently learning from Srimathi Lalita Sivakumar. She was one of the top two competitors who won the All India Radio Competition and was awarded the 'B' Grade recognition in 2006. She has won several awards in various competitions. She has also given many performances all over India, Singapore and Sri Lanka. She has released 'Mahisasura Mardhini' CD and is currently working on other projects. An Accountancy graduate from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, she was working with Price water house Coopers before she decided to move to Chennai to pursue her passion, Carnatic Music. |

Her first concert was under the banner of ‘Mookambika Fine Arts’ at Chennai in 1987. Since then she has been performing at all important sabhas in Chennai during Music Season. She has also toured all over India to give performances in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka etc. She became a graded artist of All India Radio’ Chennai in 2002 by winning their All India Competition. |
